Chesapeake Natives

Who we are:

A volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2005.

We sponsor demonstration gardens at the University of Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the Chesapeake Climate Action Network.

We conduct research on the use of locally native seed for soil stabilization,

and on the use of native plants as alternative crops.

Our volunteers responsibly hand-gather local native seed and grow plants for sale to the public.

We support commercial nurseries who wish to add locally native plants to their product lines.

We work with local farmers who wish to produce native seed.

By protecting native plants, we are helping our local fauna, including pollinators, and expressing the local aesthetic that makes the Chesapeake watershed unique.
